The best fishing in Bali is generally July-November, the migration period for pelagic fish and a time of calm sea conditions. You can target tuna (yellowfin/dogtooth), marlin, GT, and more. GT are also good around April and in autumn (September-November). Departing from Benoa or Sanur, around Nusa Penida you can expect yellowfin tuna, mahi-mahi, wahoo, GT, and blue marlin.

Working out of Benoa Harbour to fish the tide lines of the Lombok Strait, which separates Bali from Lombok. The dry season of Apr-Oct is the main event, and in Jun-Jul in particular schools of yellowfin push in within 10 nautical miles of shore, producing good numbers of 15-50 kg class fish. Trolling is the mainstay, running 6-8 lines over deep water 5-25 nautical miles out to hook yellowfin, dogtooth tuna, wahoo, mahimahi, and marlin.
