Target fish & season

Inshore jigging(Riau)

There is little definitive material indicating a clear best season for Dumai alone. Generally, for sea fishing on the east coast of Sumatra, the drier season (roughly February to August), when there is relatively little rain and the sea is calm, is said to produce better results. Fishing spots center on nearshore waters, harbor jetties, and river mouths (such as the mouth of the Dumai River), and in brackish waters the barramundi (white seabass / kakap putih) responds well during the incoming tide to the turn of the tide. Around the new moon (bulan mati), when the waves are calm, is considered more favorable than the full moon.
