Yellowtail amberjack/red seabream/Boat jigging
Korean rockfish (bolrak/볼락) peak from late autumn through spring. From early November they become active again on lures, with numbers peaking around the end of December. January to March is the harshest cold and the most difficult period, but from late March to early June, before spawning, they move close to shallow waters and reach their peak. Bolrak fishing in Tongyeong can be enjoyed from November to the following June. For pelagic fish, yellowtail (bang-eo/방어) is in its fatty prime in the winter from November to February, while yellowtail amberjack (busiri/부시리), which dislikes summer, is best from late spring to autumn (roughly May to September).
