GT/Spanish mackerel/Snapper/Barramundi/Grouper/Tuna
Barramundi are caught in Arnhem Land roughly February-October, with the peak February-June. The "run-off" period of March-May (the receding waters after flooding) is regarded as the best in the NT, with high activity as bait and fish are flushed out from the floodplains. GT (giant trevally) gather in large schools during the build-up (pre-wet) period of October-December, a prime time for both numbers and size. Charters depart from Gove Harbour (Nhulunbuy), and Buckingham Bay and Arnhem Bay are known as prime barramundi grounds.

A fishery at the northern tip of Arnhem Land, where the vast tidal estuaries of the Gove Peninsula meet the Arafura Sea. The signature barramundi hold on mangrove snags and drains; the season runs Feb-Oct with the prime Feb-Jun, and the settled dry season of May-Sep is the easiest to move around in. The estuaries also mix in threadfin, queenfish, and golden snapper, while GT and Spanish mackerel are targets offshore.
