First reach Taitung, then cross by small aircraft (Daily Air) or ferry. Flights and boats are easily cancelled or fully booked due to weather and tides, so advance booking is essential in high season (around April-October).

GT/Trolling・Popping
Casting/popping for GT (giant trevally) is generally in season around April-October, with late winter to spring considered especially good. Large GT can be targeted around the offshore reefs and rocks of Green Island and Orchid Island; summer is a good season, but many days from July to September are unfishable due to typhoons. Overall, April-June and early autumn offer the best balance of weather, sea conditions and fish activity.

Big-fish action off the outer islands, Green Island 33 km southeast of Taiwan and Lanyu farther offshore. The headline target is GT (giant trevally), pursued by popping and trolling. Winter's northeast monsoon makes crossings and departures difficult, so the good window for travel and fishing is roughly April to October, peaking June to August. Water temps run 21-29 C year-round and pelagics are thick. The draw is water with untouched reef still intact.

The offshore islands off Taitung have a subtropical to tropical maritime climate, warm year-round. As representative values, the monthly climate normals for the nearest city, Taitung, are shown (because there is little published independent temperature data for Green Island and Orchid Island). In winter (November-March) the strong northeasterly monsoon makes the sea rough, and in summer to early autumn (July-September) the typhoon season brings a high risk of cancellations. Humidity is high, so the perceived temperature is higher than the figures.
