GT/Dogtooth tuna
Casting for GT (giant trevally) and dogtooth tuna (dogtooth tuna) can be targeted year-round, but in winter (December to February) north winds make the sea rough and limit the days you can reach the fishing spots. March to November, when sea conditions are relatively calm, is the high season, and April onward, when the water temperature rises, is said to be especially favorable.

The following are the climate normals (1991-2020) for Ishigaki Island (Japan Meteorological Agency observation station); Iriomote Island has a similar subtropical maritime climate. It is warm year-round, but July to September is typhoon season, when high-speed ferry cancellations and trip cancellations are likely, so checking operations before traveling is essential. In winter (December to February) there are days with strong north winds and rough seas, so a jacket is needed.
