From shore, hairtail is generally best around August to December (large ones can be targeted in the late season of November to December). Amberjack and other pelagic fish are best in summer to autumn (July to November, especially July to September) as they migrate on the warm current. Autumn (October to November) is a great chance to target many species including hairtail, amberjack and bigfin reef squid.
