Getting there (from the nearest int'l airport) source

The gateway to the Kei Islands (southeastern Maluku Province) is Karel Sadsuitubun Airport (LUV), near Langgur on Kei Kecil Island. There are no direct flights; domestic flights via Ambon (AMQ) are the standard, and routing into Ambon via Makassar (UPG) is also common. From the airport, travel by car to the port towns of Tual/Langgur.

The best fishing season is during the inter-monsoon lulls, when the sea calms, in April–May and October–November. November–April, the dry season, is also good for targeting GT (giant trevally), with calm seas and good visibility. Large schools of GT can be seen around the Kei Islands and Dula Laut.

Climate & what to wear source

The Kei Islands (Tual) have a tropical climate. The rainy season driven by the northwest monsoon runs from December to May (January is the wettest), and the dry season under the southeast monsoon runs from July to October, with June and November being transitional. Temperatures are high year-round, and the sea breeze makes it comfortable. Figures are representative values for Tual.
