Kansai International (KIX) is the gateway. It is one of Japan's primary international gateways, so no domestic connection is needed. About 1.5h by car from KIX via the Hanwa Expressway to the Hirogawa IC. Located at 1147-5 Karo, Hirokawa Town, Arida District, Wakayama Prefecture. Exit Hirokawa IC, go straight through the first traffic light, then turn left onto the coastal road to Karo Port. A sea fishing pond about 5 min by boat from Karo Bay. Reservation-only (Web booking available). Fishing 8:00-12:30; check-in from 7:00 (general) or 6:40 (private charter). Closed Tuesdays and New Year's Day.

Open year-round. Goldstriped amberjack (hiramasa), striped jack and red seabream, among others, are stocked, with variety depending on the season. Amberjack/yellowtail (aomono) are best from autumn to spring, striped jack from early summer to autumn.
