How to fish here

Saipan, the largest hub in the Northern Marianas, is an easy blue-water island with plenty of charter and lodging options. Offshore, marlin, yellowfin tuna, wahoo, mahi-mahi, dogtooth tuna, and GT are the trolling stars. Water stays warm at about 27-29 C all year, so boats run year-round. Local events include the Mahi-Mahi Derby (April), the International Fishing Tournament (July), and the Billfish tournament (September). Charter rates run about US$300-500 per person.

Details (access, climate, lodging & more)

Climate & what to wear source

A stable tropical climate said to be the 'world's least variable climate' (Guinness). The dry season is Dec-Jun and the rainy season Jul-Nov. Temperatures are roughly 25-29C. Watch for typhoons May-Dec (frequent Aug-Nov).

If the sea gets rough source

During typhoons or big swell, trips are canceled. The lagoon on Saipan's west side is relatively calm and works as an alternative.
