There are many direct domestic flights from Bangkok taking about 1 hour 20 minutes, making it the fastest and easiest option. From the city center to the airport is about 11 km, roughly a 20-minute drive. Overland routes take about 12-13 hours by bus and about 14 hours by train (one direct service per day) — slower but cheaper. For coastal and estuary fishing, you travel from the city to the ports (along the coast such as Pak Phanang).

On the Gulf of Thailand side, offshore fishing (GT, grouper, etc.) is best targeted after the northeast monsoon ends; GT season generally runs from around October-November to about the following May, with the new and full moon periods of October-January regarded as especially good. Meanwhile, the best season for sightseeing and weather is February-April, when rainfall is lowest and the sea is calmest. Around the November peak, when weather tends to be rough, be mindful of departure conditions.
