Target fish & season

Inshore/Barramundi/Squid(Nha Trang)

Fishing in Nha Trang is possible year-round, but the dry season to summer, when the sea is calm, is the prime target. Deep-sea tuna and sailfish are best in January-March. April-June is ideal for reef fishing targeting grouper and snapper. July-September sees migratory species such as mahi-mahi running well, and May-September is considered the best season with calm sea conditions. Squid can be targeted seasonally on night fishing. Trevally (GT), king mackerel, coral trout and others are also target species year-round.

How to fish here

Nha Trang's staple is the evening night-squid tour, where you fish for squid and fish from a wooden boat and enjoy a BBQ aboard. By day the focus is bottom fishing for coral trout, grouper, and red snapper around Tam Island and Nha Trang Bay. Barramundi and snapper are best from March to September, and trolling is popular too.
