freshwater category. A spot in Tasik Raban (Perak) (Peninsular Malaysia) targeting Snakehead (toman)/Kerandang/Sebarau/Peacock bass. We have not yet confirmed a boat we can list here. Position, tide, access, climate and lodging are in the details below.
Local info: an emerging kayak fishery (no dedicated charter)
Raban shares its water system with Chenderoh (the upstream reach of the 1930 Chenderoh dam); anglers use the name "Raban" for this stretch. Its distinctive draw is kayak fishing for kerandang (toman bunga), an angle few other sites cover. Malaysian newspapers cover it regularly, but no dedicated fishing charter or guide could be found — every trip report uses a personal kayak or an informal village boat. The base for a stay is Resort Tasik Raban, run by the Lenggong District Council (chalets RM150-350; two jetties at the lakeside square; Tel 05-751 2799). Safety: submerged tree stumps risk damaging boats and propellers at low water; solo kayaking beyond Najirin bridge is not advised. Watch for TNB dam-water releases.
