The main hub is Ranong Airport (UNN); access from Bangkok is by air or long-distance bus, and from town you head to the outer islands via the piers.

Jigging/Grouper
The best season for GT (giant trevally) and deep/jigging is roughly October–May (the dry season). Due to the southwest monsoon, the sea is rough around May–September and it is hard to set out, so the season concentrates in October–May. October–January, and around March when the sea is calm (stable weather and flat seas), are considered prime. Liveaboards to Myanmar's Mergui Archipelago and the northern Surin/Similan area also operate October–May.
