Book / contact the captain directly Roko Island Fishing Charters ›Seisia is a port town in the Northern Peninsula Area (NPA) at the tip of Cape York in far north QLD, with the neighboring central settlement of Bamaga as its gateway. Generally you fly from Cairns (CNS) to Bamaga Airport (ABM = Northern Peninsula Airport) by light aircraft in about 2 hours. Driving up Cape York by 4WD overland (via the Telegraph Track) is also possible only in the dry season (May-Oct), but it is a punishing dirt route including the Jardine River ferry and others, with the whole journey of about 1,000km taking 3-5 days one way.

Barramundi can be targeted year-round, but the best are two busy periods: the Run-off (March-June) and the Build-up (the pre-spawning feeding frenzy, September-early December). In particular, April-early June is considered the year's best for both weather and catches. The most productive period is roughly mid-September to mid-May. Trevally including GT (giant trevally), queenfish and others are also highly active in the same busy periods (March-June / September-December). The dry season (May-Oct) offers stable access to estuaries and inshore waters, making it suitable for fishing.

A tropical monsoon climate with high temperatures all year round. The Dry season runs May-Oct, with many clear days, comfortable conditions, and the best time for travel and fishing.
