The crossing takes roughly 1.5 to 2 hours. There are also small-aircraft flights (Tioman Airport TOD), but they are frequently suspended or seasonal. During the northeast monsoon (around November to February), ferries may be reduced or suspended.

GT/Wahoo/Black marlin
The best fishing is generally March to October (the dry season after the monsoon). Around the deep waters and FADs off the east side of the island you can target wahoo, dorado, sailfish, and black marlin (50-250 lb class), while to the south at Pulau Aur/Pemanggil there are good prospects for large marlin and GT. There are catch reports of GT in April, August, and November. During the northeast monsoon from November to February, the sea is rough and going out is difficult.

Off the east side of Tioman the water deepens, holding wahoo, mahimahi, and black marlin of the 50-300 lb class. Numerous FADs gather mahimahi, cobia, Spanish mackerel, and sailfish, while to the south at Pulau Aur even bigger black marlin and mackerel species can be targeted. Wahoo run early, and topwater with live baits and jigs is effective.

Hot and humid year-round, with daytime highs generally around 28-32C. During the northeast monsoon (around November to February), strong winds and heavy rain make the sea rough, and many resorts and ferries shut down. The wettest period is November to December.
