Vava'u International Airport (VAV/Lupepau'u), about 10 km north of Neiafu. Daily flights (except Sunday) from Tongatapu on Lulutai Airlines. Seasonal international flights from Nadi, Apia and Pago Pago. Based at Billfish Apartments in Neiafu, fishing aboard the 'Fighting Lady' (300HP). Private charter for up to 4 people, tackle included.

How to fish here

The Vava'u islands offer big-game fishing year-round, with blue marlin peaking Jun-Dec. Three FADs set about 6 nautical miles offshore draw in mahi-mahi, yellowfin, skipjack and wahoo. Target 70-80kg yellowfin from late November through February, and sailfish Jul-Nov. Fighting Lady takes up to 4 anglers, and billfish are tag-and-release as a rule.
