The airport is about 7 km from the city, reachable by taxi or shared van. To the outlying islands (Koh Mook, Koh Kradan, Koh Libong, etc.), you cross by boat from Pak Meng Pier or Hat Yao Pier near Trang. Kantang lies south of Trang town and is the port town that serves as the base for islands such as Koh Libong.

Squid/Grouper（Kantang/Koh Libong）
The best season for fishing and island crossings on Thailand's Andaman Sea side is the dry season of November to April. The sea is calm with high clarity, making it easy to target reef snapper, grouper, coral trout, and more. January to March in particular has the least rainfall and the best conditions. The rainy season of May to October (especially September) brings rough seas and heavy rain, so it is unsuitable for island crossings and fishing trips.

The scene is around Libong Island in Kantang District, Trang Province. The highlight is chartering a longtail boat to target squid offshore, with reef fish like grouper also on the cards. The island is about 30 minutes from Hat Yao pier, a rustic, nature-rich area with vast seagrass meadows also known as home to dugongs (about 200 of them).

Located on the Andaman Sea side with a tropical monsoon climate. The rainy season is May to October (September is the wettest), and the dry season is November to April. Temperatures vary little throughout the year, with highs around 31 to 34 C and lows around 23 to 24 C. The dry season of January to March has the least rain and is ideal for travel.
