Jigging/GT/Spanish mackerel（Redang/Tenggol）
The best season for fishing, diving, etc. is roughly March-October (the island-open season). Due to the northeast monsoon, many resorts close from around November to the end of February. April-September (peaking April-August), when the sea is calm with high visibility and active marine life, is especially favorable. From November to January, reduced visibility often leads to diving being canceled.

Jigging and GT fishing are popular around Tenggol and Redang, 24km offshore. Species include Spanish mackerel, barracuda, trevally, grouper and snapper, with tuna and cobia mixing in deeper water. The season is the calm months of Mar-Oct; the Nov-Feb monsoon brings rough weather that makes it hard to launch.
