It's very close to Waikiki - about 2 miles (just under a 10-min drive) - with many direct flights from Japan and the US mainland. Charters depart from Kewalo Basin Harbor. Adjacent to Waikiki's main hotel district, it's easy to catch the early 6 a.m. or 12:30 departures. You can choose half-day (4-5 hours) or full-day (8-9 hours) shared or private trips.

Home-ported at Kewalo Basin next to Waikiki, this is prime trolling ground for Pacific blue marlin, ahi (yellowfin tuna), mahi-mahi, ono (wahoo), and aku (skipjack). Most boats leave at 6 a.m., with full-day 8-9 hour and half-day 4-5 hour trips the standard. Blue marlin peak from June to September, and these waters have produced granders over 1,000 lb; a 1,277 lb blue marlin record stands out of Kewalo.

Oahu's south shore (leeward) is warm with relatively little rain and calm year-round. Summer has good sea conditions, ideal for big game. Winter-spring is more exposed to north and east swells, but departures from the south shore stay relatively stable.
